It was reported that US President Donald Trump was “very upset” because his 2016 campaign was not supported by Amanda Knox. The president had previously chanted about Knox, convicted of murdering her colleague Meredith Kircher in Perugia, Italy, in 2007 before proving he was not guilty during the retrial in 2011.
During Knox’s well-known trial, Trump was one of her most vocal supporters, tweeting in 2011 before her acquittal: “Everyone must boycott the boycott if Amanda Knox is not released – she’s absolutely innocent.”However, one of Trump’s friends, George Guido Lombardi, told the New York Times on Friday (April 14) that the president was disappointing Knox supported Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 US presidential election.
In a post on her blog, Knox, who was acquitted by the Supreme Court of Cassation in 2015, wrote of Trump: “Donald Trump succeeded in stepping out of the strongest position in the world simply because it is destabilizing, no matter how inexperienced, uneducated and irresponsible Appreciation). “Lombardi said her decision to support Clinton as president had left Trump disappointed. He told the New York Times that the president was “very upset” by Knox’s “ways”.
Knox did not comment on Lombardy’s claims, although she did not hide away from the media circus that surrounded her trial, conviction and acquittal in the end. In 2016, she appeared in a documentary from Netflix in which she told the story of her confinement and her release.
