Samsung has closed all official corporate websites and blogs under the Samsung group in an attempt to improve its public image after the arrest of its vice-president Lee Jae-young.Many sites and blogs, created to announce the history of the conglomerate, the ideology and social activities have been responsibility responsibility. The main site now redirects users automatically to Samsung Electronics website.
The closure comes shortly after the group dismantled its strategy office to take responsibility for its involvement in the Park Ji-hyun scandal, which led to the South Korean president’s indictment and Lee’s eventual arrest. The company says it is not sure how to run CSR activities under the brand name.
“We are still discussing whether all CSR activities will be canceled or transferred to other branches,” said an official with the Korean Herald newspaper.
The Group’s employment site will continue to operate. However, in return for the Group’s regular recruitment events twice a year, candidates will be given different dates and operations starting in the second half of the year.
Lee is the president of the Samsung Group, a family-run company largely. He was arrested in February for giving 43.4 billion won (38.9 million dollars, 31.14 million pounds) to long-standing Park Choi Sun-long as bribes to strengthen his control of the group by merging two major units. During the interrogation, Lee insisted that Park forced him to give money.
